The BHVS membership is on free will and its members are fully independent. There are three categories of membership: founder-members, members, and honorary members. New members are admitted after an application to the BHVS Advisory Council, where the applicant states that he/she accepts the BHVS Statute and would voluntary work under its regulations.

Vexillologist, MA graduate in history. Former chief of one of the departments of the National Museum of Military History, colonel of the reserve. He is the author of the books: Bulgarian Military Flags and Banners, 1998, Flags of the States of the World, 2002, and Symbols of Bulgaria: Arms, Flag, Anthem, 2004, as well as, of many studies and articles on vexillology.

He is a Russian pupil. He has an undergraduate degree in Hotel Management and currently he is reading law at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Member of Golden Key International Honour Society. Apart from advocacy and heraldry, his interests include horseriding and polo, bookcollecting and calligraphy, and antiques.

A postgraduate study of fine art at the 'Willem de Kooning' Academy in Rotterdam, followed by MA Program of Philosophy in history of art, culture and religion at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) with several research specialisations at the Royal Dutch Institute (KNIR) in Rome and at the Dutch Institute of Art History (NIKI) in Florence. Curently is a PhD researcher at the Institute of European Culture and History, UvA. Explores the history of art and humanism at the papal and royal courts in Italy during the Renaissance and the Counter-reformation.
